I am having some problems using the robo claw 2x10A motor controller that I purchased 2 months ago.

Using analog control, the roboclaw only manage to let the motor to turn at one direction, and will not make the motor stop.

Using simple serial control, the motor can turn both ways but it would not stop. In addition, the robo claw does not operate as stated in the data sheet. For instance, when given the command 64, the motor would move instead of stopping. I can only control one channel using the command from 0-255, where the other channel remains idle.

Using packet serial control, the robo claw does not respond to any command at all.

I did these tests using a laptop with a USB to RS232 adapter and a MAX232 circuit.

I suspect the board is faulty and would like to request for an exchange. May I know how should I proceed?

What version of the RoboClaw do you have(green pcb or red). If the board is faulty we will replace it. We just need to do some simple checking first. Describe the Analog circuit you used? If you have the red pcb roboclaw did you switch the jp3 jumper from 5v to 2v? Can you describe how you wired up for PacketSerial and what you used to communicated to it with(a PC or a microcontroller)? If you are using a PC are you using a level converter on the serial line? Have you tried using 2400 bps serial rates?

If you want a faster response go ahead and shoot me an email with the answers above. nathan@basicmicro.com.
