Hi
I want to use you,re 2x25 amp controller for a 4 dof motion platform.
My motors are 24 volt with a 13 amp continious working erea and 48 amp peak current.
With fast reversing under load, i am afraid it will draw more than 30 amps for a split second.
My question is:what does the controller do on that point
does he shut down ore not.
does he give a regulated 30 amps for a split second.
sorry for my bad englisch.
regards

The 2x25 Roboclaws are setup to allow up to 50amps for short periods(a couple seconds only). Note that heat buildup from these surges are cummulative(takes time to cool back down) but the timeout for the overcurrent is not(timeout only triggers if you are over current for a continuous couple seconds). You can, with repeated overcurrents within short duration excede the temperature threshold and cause a shut down.

Also you can ramp speed changes instead of making instant changes which greatly reduces the number of and the length of current draw spikes when operating your motors. In many cases a roboclaw can run a motor whose stall current is many times the max rating because of how the motor is operated(which can also extend the life expectancy of your motors).
