So a USB to serial adapter?

And if you don't remove it it causes your program to hang?

Hi Nathan
Sorry my English was not clear:
I am programming via RS 232 connection, not an USB Adapter.

On my main board I have 4 Pins for programming with short connection to the Atom.
Connecting to the PC, I use only a 4-Pin connector, attached to a DB 9 connector via 10 cm cable.

Between the DB9 connector und the PC I use a standard DB 9 extension cable.

Leaving the “4-Pin to DB9 Connector" (without the extension cable) on the Board causes more resets.

Heinz

Perhaps this cable is acting like an antenna and introducing noise to the Reset line?

Your comport may be going to sleep which can cause the RTS and/or DTR line to change state(I've seen this). If you are leaving the cable on but disconnecting it from the PC then Ken may be right, it could be acting as an antenna causing the floating voltage of the reset pin to chaneg enough to cause a reset.

Also random seeming resets can be caused by code. If you have any code that may be using the serial port which could cascade to an unmatched gosub/return command. You may never see the resets caused by code except in that particular hardware configuration.
