I have a 8 by 2 lcd screen how to I get the cursor to move to the second line?

You can use the SCRRAM command to write to any position of the LCD

[SCRRAM+0,"Hello"] will start writing to position 0 and

[SCRRAM+40,"world"] will start writing at position 40 depending on the LDC that might be the start of the second line or it may be 20 just give it a try.
