Hi Jeeg,

I am KurtE on Lynxmotion forums...

My guess is problem with USB to serial adapter. I don't know anything about the Hama adapter. A quick look makes me think it is based on a Prolific chip set, but could be wrong. You can verify this by going into the device manager and bringing up properties on the created serial port.

You say you have tried on all USB ports. I typically use a BAFO USB adapter that is based on the Prolific chip set which works well, BUT only when I run it through an externally powered USB 2 hub. I have some other FTDI based cables that work well, but I needed to modify the advanced properties for it to get any speed...

What steps have you tried to resolve this? There are several threads on trying to diagnose and resolve serial issues on the Lynxmotion site. When you plug the cable in, is a comm port created? From your description I think it is. If you configure to use this port, does it not find it? Have you tried updating the Rest Hold times in Studios advanced settings to see if that makes any difference? ...

Good Luck,
Kurt

Make sure the USB to serial adapter isn't a USB to PDA adapter. They lookm the same but the PDA adapters don't pring out all the RS-232 signals. If its missing the RTS and/or the DTR signals you will never get teh AtomPro to program.

Hi Kurte,
yes, this adaptor is based on a Prolific chip.
I've tryed with all 3 USB port on my laptop: Using RIOS software with SCC32 works very well but with BBII and BAtomPro28 no!
Now I try with USB HUB!

The most likely culprit is the laptop USB ports are either not powered or they are under powered. Hook up a powered HUB to your laptop and then plug the USB adapter into the powered hub. We've seen this problem before with laptops.
