Does the AtomPro 24-M contain the hardware uart on P15 just like the basic atom? If so, do I use HSERIN or SERIN?

Thanks

Yes, the Hitachi has a hardware UART.
and No, the HSERIN/HSEROUT instructions have not been implemented for the Pro yet. Apparently, it took a while before they were implemented on the Atom.

This brings up a question for BasicMicro: could we have a short example of using the Atom Pro UART with interrupts (NOT using HSERIN/HSEROUT)? We could use this until the HSERIN/HSEROUT instructions are implemented.

Thanks! AllanL.

So, are you saying the UART is there but it can't be used at this time?

Well, it IS there.
I think another post has the interrupt name to use for it.

However, you'll have to write your own Atom Pro Basic interrupt service routine to service it, and you'll have to browse the Hitachi 3884 docs for how to turn on the interrupts, how to set the baud rate, and how to respond to the interrupts you'll get.

It's doable, I think.

It is doable. It's not even that hard unless you want to buffer data. It just is a lot of registers you have to set correctly is all.

Thanks acidtech. Any idea on when the HSERIN/HSEROUT feature will be implimented?

It should be in the next release. It may not though since we have some real bugs that I'd like to get the fixed version out to rectify as soon as possible.
