Ok I have used my AtomPro28 in the last 3 projects and it has worked great.
But now on my latest project something strange has started to happen. It no longer programs correctly.

It worked, then it suddenly didn't work any more.

I tried the following:
--------------------------
Charging the battery
Changing the FIFO Buffer
Changing the Reset Hold Time
Changing the serial cable I use

After changing the serial cable it suddenly worked (with all other settings at standard) so I was able to program it and happy that it worked I went to bed. Next day it didn't work again.

And now I have tried the following:
--------------------------
Changing to a new 9V battery
Changing the serial cable
Changing to another computer
Tried with BasicATOM-Pro IDE

And I still get the same message every time I try to program:

"A BasicATOM processor must be connected to program."

The Atom reacts and resets every time I try to program or "Find Processor".

Right now I'm just trying to program a test piece:
---------------------------------------
P_Speaker con P9 'Speaker pin
sound P_Speaker,[250\1000,250\1000]
end
---------------------------

Setup
------
AtomPro28
Lynxmotion Mini-ABB
Standard serial cable
Win XP PC
Basic Micro Studio

Anyone have any more ideas what can be wrong? or do I really have to throw it away now? :(

Bummer, Ozzie. :(
Are you using a 9V battery straight out of the package/wrapper? Brand-spanking new?
Check the module for bent or missing pins.
Try unistalling and reinstalling the Studio IDE and see if that helps.
Good luck with this.

When I get into a state like this, I start trying different things to see if it helps.
1) Check battery - Looks like you already did it, but does not hurt to try again. If you have a volt meter check the voltages on the board.
2) Check wiring, maybe a short is happening... Often I will remove all wiring from the board except for power and RS232 cable. Check to make sure the chip is still plugged in properly and all of the pins are in the socket.
3) Check RS232 cable and or USB to serial adapter. Has anything changed on the machine like a driver change or the like? I have sometimes had to uninstall and reinstall drivers. Sometimes I have to change the comm port to another and then back...

4) Likewise I have sometimes had luck uninstalling and reinstalling studio. Sometimes need to play with the reset time in the advanced settings...

That is all for now.

Thanks for the replies!

I have the board with only power and the serial cable connected. And a brand new 9V battery (also measured).
The board and everything looks fine, with no visual damage of any kind.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Basic Micro Studio several times on both computers with no luck. :(

It just seems so strange that it worked once after it stopped working the first time. Otherwise I could put it to rest guessing that something was broken on the AtomPro or the BotBoard, nut now I just don't get it...

You might consider loading the IDE on another PC with an RS-232 interface. See if it works.

I recently had the same thing happen. My BAP28 just quit responding. I have no problems programming my BAP40.

Tried Studio re-installs, old IDE versions, new IDE versions, power supply, different COM ports, different PC, nothing makes it work anymore. It was running just fine the last time I programmed it. No visible damage and no magic smoke. The next time, it just wouldn't respond. This happened right between testing sessions. One time it worked, the next it didn't. And it has never worked since.

Kinda sucks because I can no longer test my C library using the BAP28. And there are timing differences between the modules that must be taken into account that I can no longer test for. Got a spare BAP28 hanging around that I could use for compatibility testing? ;)

You can RMA the BAP28 module so we can figure out what happened to it.
