If you don't have encoders plugged in but you try using encoder commands(eg speed, accel, distance commands) your motors will definitely act funny.

Ok. I have the new encoders in-hand. :) I want to avoid mounting them to the motors until they are returning counts, etc. so I was planning to substitute a toothpick for axles and use separate code just to return encoder counts for each one. This won't simulate the consistency of a motor turn, but I am curious to see if it can work to test.

Toothpicks worked fine as an axle for the encoder and returned counts and speed which would change as expected.

Previously, I wrote the following commands to send Hex format to the 7-segment display (w/ driver). At this point, I amnot seeing the appropriate code to

I would like to display the distance traveled on a 7-segment, 4 digit display (with driver). I am able to display discrete characters, but would like to display the distance to the nearest half foot (ie decimal present) which will increase/decrease appropriately. I looked at some of the encoder code referenced earlier in the threadin a previous post, but I am not sure if it is partial code.r complete.

serout Display ,DisplayBaud, [0x7A,30] <-- Sets brightness level
serout Display ,DisplayBaud, [0x76] <-- Clears reset displaydisplay
serout Display ,DisplayBaud, [0X31,0X32,0X33,0X34] <-- Displays 1234
