I am putting an onboard usb port on a project and it seems pretty straight forward using the USB2Ser Data sheet. The only question I have is what the value and ratings of the Ferrite Bead should be. No values are given that I can find anywhere.
Thanks

The FTDI data sheet for their FT232R chip is at
http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documents/DataSheets/ICs/DS_FT232R.pdf
Towards the bottom of page 23 is this quick note:
"A ferrite bead is connected in series with the USB power supply to reduce EMI noise from the FT232R and associated circuitry being radiated down the USB cable to the USB host. The value of the Ferrite Bead depends on the total current drawn by the application. A suitable range of Ferrite Beads is available from Steward (http://www.steward.com), for example Steward Part # MI0805K400R-10."
So, get the specs for that bead's part number above and follow through! :D
Later!

Easy to miss stuff like that!
