Post subject: Unable to connect to Basic Atom module
PostPosted: Sun Aug 09, 2009 6:56 pm
I have recently purchased an Atom microcontroller module from Beginner Electronics, a 28 pin model (Their ultimate OEM Module - Atom version). I managed to hook it up to my computer and get my first program loaded on there, a simple program flashing the built in LED multiple times. After getting the program to work, i went on to hook it up to a LCD display that i had kicking around, and got a message saying "ATOM must be connected to compile/program/debug", or pretty close to that anyways. After trying on three different computers, one with a built in serial, I could not get the atom to connect through serial. The program no longer appears to be running as well (lights no longer blinking at all, only system power light is on).
This is my first foray into microelectronics, so i can't say i know that much about it. Your help would be appreciated,
Thanks
Dan

Hello. Try removing the LCD and see if that helps.
Take care.

Well, i got another Basic Nano (28 pin) to replace the other one, and still no signal it appears. Well, it looks like the support chip has an issue i would assume, or i got two faulty Nanos, which is pretty unlikely i would say.

The Nano is not compatible with the board you have. All Nano's are tested before shipping. You'd be better off playing the lotto before you would see this.

What other hardware do you have?
