I have seen this topic discussed a few times but have been unable to fix the issue. When programing the Atom it takes a couple of LONG minutes.

I have seen where someone suggests tweaking the advanced settings under system setup. I have tried this with no change.
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the program a couple of times (all versions of the IDE). Still is slow.

I am having the same issue when I use different opperating systems (Vista 64, Vista and XP) on different computers.

Any suggestions?

Note: 99+% of my usage is on an Atom Pro, so you may need to take this with a grain of salt...
There have been several topics and tutorial on this up on Lynxmotion including:http://www.lynxmotion.net/viewtopic.php?t=4704

It would help to know additional information, such as is your Atom on a board with a serial connector or a USB connector. I assume Serial. Also does your PCs have a normal serial port or are you using a USB to serial adapter? I assume the later. What brand?

With a few adapters I have had, I could tweak the advanced settings like you mentioned and speed it up a lot. With the one I currently using which is a BAFO???, which was suggested by Nathan (AcidTech), I found I was having problems, until I plugged it into an external powered USB 2 Hub. The one I am currently using is from Linksys.

Hi, Mike. :)
I have several Basic Atoms. I have two USB-RS232 adapters. Everything works fine after resetting latency to "1". The one I use for programming is
http://www.commfront.com/USB-Serial-Adapters-Converters/USB-RS232-Converter-Adapter.htm

After resetting latency this is perhaps even faster than the serial port!
Hope that helped,

Problem solved thanks for the help. I needed to set the latency to 1.
