Quick tech note:
The Atom is programmed at 115K baud. This means that any computer used for programming the Atom must be capable of 115K. Most computers made after 1996 have UARTS capable of 115K baud. About 98% of Pentium computers were shipped with 115K baud serial ports. Email for additional info on how to test if your computer has 115K serial ports.
The Atom software is not compatible with the Basic Stamp®. This means that the Atom software only works with the Atom and the Basic Stamp software only works with the Stamp. Your programs however are compatible.
The Atom is PIN for PIN compatible with the Basic Stamp 2 and up. This means that any Parallax development boards you have, the Atom will work in place of the Basic Stamp.
The Atom software has been tested on a Pentium 75 and up. The software has not been tested on a 486. The minimum requirements specify a P100 and up.
The Atom will work with a USB to serial adapter. The Atom software will display all available COMM ports. If the USB adapter COMM does not show up then the drivers are more than likely not installed correctly. The Atom software polls Windows for the Available COMM ports. So the COMM port must show up under Controls panels -> System.
